How can I select a container for my materials?

Overview

When you place your content (e.g., a Guide) into a container, you save your material inside that code snippet. When you install the container on your web page, it can be visible to your end users!

How to place your materials into a container

Each material you create, whether it is a Guide, Hotspot, Checklist, etc., will automatically be set to the default container.

If you have installed UserGuiding on different platforms with different container codes, you can select a different container code from the material's settings. To do this, go to your Guides' Settings and pick one of the predefined containers you wish to place your guide in.

☝️ Important: Make sure you select the right container code when you wish to complete your installation!

✨ If you have embedded different container codes in your test/staging and production environment, don't forget to update the container of your guide to move it to your other domain. Here's an article on how to move your guide from the staging domain to prod.

How to create a new container

It is sufficient to use the default container if you are creating content only for one web platform. However, it is possible to create additional containers for different web domains! Here's how:

Go to Settings → Containers → Create A Container as shown below:
