Within the Extension, there is the Guides subsection. Here, you can find every guide you've created in the list view.

Click on its name to take more action or see a guide's steps in detail.

Then, go to the Settings tab on the upper right and start to edit and manage your guides.

Here, you can change a Guide's Name, Targeting, Redirect, and Design.

Guide's name and description.

Targeting is where you determine on what page or pages you want a guide or some other content to display.

A target is composed of A Rule and a URL bit, and its functioning is depicted as it is read from left to right.

Let's all look at the guide's targeting that is shown to us here below:

Redirect URL is the URL of a guide's first step. In other words, when you start to create a guide on a page, the page's URL is registered as a Redirect URL.

A redirect URL can be defined as the starting URL and exists as a fall-back URL. Meaning if you trigger a guide on a page that is not applied to the guide's targeting rule:

  1. This triggered guide recalls its Redirect URL to start since Guides can come into view only on their targeting URL(s).

  2. This means your current page's URL changes into the URL registered in the Redirect. Guides can only start from their first steps.

Here, you can select a custom theme for your guide.

Guides that you create with UserGuiding can look native-like if you set a custom theme to them, befitting your web application.

To learn how to create a custom theme for your guides, you can read: Creating Themes.

Your existing themes will be in the dropdown, ready to be selected.

As seen in the image above, you should click on the Save button before leaving the window.
