You should create a user segment to make the materials visible only to the new users during their initial visit. Let's say they are coming from the page that has the URL like the following;

yourapp.com/register

So we can create a segment as shown below:

So, this Guide will only be visible to the users who have visited the page with the "/register" part.

You can also send us user attributes if you keep such a log yourself. Then, user segments with these attributes will be created.
