Overview

By default, all your users will see your live onboarding materials. However, by segmenting your audience, you'll be able to target specific users and customize their onboarding experience.

Note: If you want to show your onboarding materials based on custom user data, you first need to send this data as a custom user attribute since UserGuiding can't access your database due to privacy.

Sections

Creating a segment

To create a new segment, access the Users Page and choose one or more filters from the '+ Filter' button.

In the example below, only the users from the United States with English browser language are being retrieved through the page filters. You can learn how to use filters on the Users Page here.

After applying a filter combination, you can give a name to your segment and save it.

Editing a segment

At any time, you can access your saved segments by using the View Segments menu.

Note: You can also use it as a shortcut to create a new segment

When adding a filter to an existing segment, you can save it as a new one.

And here's how to delete a segment.

Setting a segment to my content

Whether you're configuring a Guide, Hotspot, Checklist, etc., you will notice a section called Audience Segmentation. There, you'll choose the Custom Segment option and the segment you've created.

In the example below, we have decided to show the content only to our trial users.

Note: You can add multiple segments and combine them with AND/OR to customize your segmentation even more.
