Overview

AdBlockers and some plugins (e.g., uBlock, PoperBlocker, Adblock, NoScript, and Adlock) utilize a set of parameters to determine what gets blocked and are designed to block content from third-party tools. If your users have AdBlockers or plugins in their browsers, they might affect the functionality of UserGuiding tools.

To address this, we offer custom domain hosting as a solution that enables you to host the UserGuiding JavaScript SDK on your domain.

We will handle most of the setup, typically taking up to 5 business days to complete. This solution effectively addresses issues related to AdBlockers and internal restrictions related to the originating domain of requests.

To initiate the custom domain hosting solution, you need to contact the support team for assistance.

Note: Please be aware that custom domain hosting is an additional cost for Basic Plans but is free of charge for Professional and Corporate Plans.

How to minimize AdBlockers' effects on UserGuiding

If custom domain hosting is not an option for your organization, there are still some steps we recommend taking to minimize the effect these ad blockers have on your user experience.

  • You can ask your users to deactivate their AdBlockers and plugins if they have them in their browsers.

  • You can upload Userguiding asynchronously to avoid interruptions to UserGuiding to your app's overall functionality. While this will not cause UserGuiding to begin showing if it's blocked, it will keep the blocked UserGuiding from breaking other parts of your application. We suggest doing this for any scripts or resources you think might be affected by Adblockers.

  • Installing the UserGuiding container with the Google Tag Manager might sometimes block the script. You might consider getting help from your developers to install the UserGuiding container into your platform's source code.
