Important Notes

Here are some key points to keep in mind:

  • You can only change the data type of user attributes sent to UserGuiding, not user events.

  • Default attributes and events provided by UserGuiding cannot have their data type modified.

  • If an attribute is used as a filter in a user segment, you cannot change its data format until you remove the attribute from the segment's filters.

  • When making changes, ensure that attributes are sent in the new data format. Sending attributes in the wrong format won't generate errors in the SDK, but it may affect user updates on the user page.

There are some cases where no changes are necessary when modifying attributes. For instance:

  • If the current attribute value is in milliseconds timestamp format and you want to convert it to a date, you can continue sending it as milliseconds timestamp.

ms timestamp: 1695281798894
  • If you wish to convert an attribute that was originally sent as a number to text, you can do so without any issues, even if you continue to send it as a number.

  • The archived attributes and events will be hidden on your Users Page, but they will continue to function in your segments.

Master the Data Page for seamless attribute and event management, ensuring your data remains organized and effective for your UserGuiding experience.
