How to Enable Click Action Tracking
To start tracking clicks on a specific button:
- Open the UserGuiding Chrome Extension.
- Go to the Guide Step or Hotspot with the custom button.
- Click on the button you want to track.
- In the Click Actions section, check the box that says: Track button click events
- Save the settings and publish your changes.

How to Track Click Actions?
Click Action Tracking is available in the individual reports page of your Guides & Hotspots.
To access it:
- Navigate to Guides or Hotspots in your dashboard.
- Select the Guide/Hotspot you’d like to analyze.
- In the Reports tab, scroll down to the Click Actions section.
You will now see:
- A list of buttons defined on the step,
- The number of clicks for each button,
- And the % of clicks within the step.
You can click on a specific button, and the list of users who clicked that button will be displayed. You can also export click data via CSV for deeper analysis.
Segmenting Users by Click Actions
You can now create user segments based on button clicks:
- Go to the Users page.
- Use the Custom Button Interaction filter.
- Select the button you're interested in.
- Save the filter as a segment.

This allows you to:
- Target users who clicked a specific button,
- Or create new experiences based on user behavior.
Use Cases for Click Action Tracking

- Funnel Drop-offs: Spot where users stop interacting.
- User Qualification: Identify high-intent users based on their click actions.
