Overview
UserGuiding's AI Assistant can help customers by providing accurate and comprehensive answers. To enhance the AI Assistant's performance, you can add various content sources, each feeding relevant information that helps generate high-quality responses. Here's how to manage these sources to train your AI Assistant effectively.
Content Sources
You can add the following sources to power up your AI Assistant:
UserGuiding Knowledge Base
Include articles from your UserGuiding Knowledge Base. With a collection of helpful articles, this source ensures that the AI Assistant provides consistent answers aligned with your organization's documentation.
External URL
Import content from public URLs, such as knowledge bases or other relevant websites. This option is ideal if you maintain support resources or FAQs outside UserGuiding, allowing your AI Assistant to pull information directly from these sources.
Text Snippet
You can add text snippets for custom or frequently asked questions. These snippets might include brief information about product features, specific instructions, or details unique to certain customer queries. Snippets are designed to supplement the AI Assistant's knowledge without being directly visible in public articles.
PDF File
Upload PDF files, and the AI Assistant will use the full-text content from each file. This source is especially useful if you have detailed product documentation, user guides, or compliance resources in PDF format that can improve answer depth.
Guide
Upgrade your setup to enable the AI Assistant to provide responses using UserGuiding's in-app Guides. This source allows your AI Assistant to walk users through processes with real-time, step-by-step guidance, enhancing the customer experience with interactive support. If the query can directly relate to a Guide, the AI Assistant will offer triggering the Guide before bringing answers from other sources.
Steps to Add Content
Go to the Source page to start adding your content.
Knowledge Base: Select UserGuiding Knowledge Base and enable the relevant articles for AI use. If you publish new articles after the setup, no further action is needed from your end. The articles will be synced automatically right after they're published.

External URL: Choose External URL, then paste the desired URL. The system will import and sync content monthly. If you need to sync it in the meantime, you can remove the URL and add it as a source again.

You can choose the crawler option you desire.
- Only This Path: The crawler will gather content only from the specific page you provide.
- Some Paths: The crawler will start from the site URL and scrape content according to the rules you set, following only certain paths.
- All Paths: The crawler will start from the site URL and scrape content from all pages on the website, following every available path.
Text Snippet: Select Text Snippet and create a new snippet. Toggle the option to enable the snippet for AI Assistant.

PDF File: Click PDF File, upload the document, and the AI Assistant will start using the data. Please note that files with multiple text columns and encrypted or password-protected PDFs are not supported.

Guide: Select Guide and enable the Guides you want the AI Assistant to reference. Adding Guides as a source for the AI Assistant is possible for the Growth Plan and above.

Manage and Preview Sources
Once content sources are added, you can:
- View all enabled sources.
- Check the sync status of external sources.
- Use the Preview feature to test how the AI Assistant responds with the available information.

Tips for Optimizing AI Assistant's Performance
- Update Regularly: Ensure that your Knowledge Base, snippets, and PDFs reflect the latest information.
- Use Concise Titles: Label snippets and PDF files clearly so they're easily identifiable during setup.
- Monitor Response Quality: Review the AI Assistant's responses regularly to ensure they provide accurate answers. Adjust or add content as needed to cover any gaps.
Adding and managing these content sources will help you harness the full potential of UserGuiding's AI Assistant, providing your customers with fast, accurate, and helpful responses to their queries.
