Interaction with the Highlighted Area
Learn how to enable interaction with a highlighted area.

Overview

When you add a new tooltip step to your guide, UserGuiding automatically freezes all clicks on the page by default. This ensures that the user's attention is fully focused on the tooltip, preventing any accidental interactions with other elements on the page that could disrupt the flow of the guide. This default behavior helps create a more controlled and streamlined onboarding experience, ensuring users follow the intended path without distraction.

However, there may be scenarios where you want users to interact with the highlighted area of the page while still displaying the tooltip. In such cases, you can easily override the default setting. To do this, navigate to the step editor and locate the Tooltip subtitle. Here, you’ll find an option labeled "Interaction with highlighted area." By activating this option, you enable users to click and interact with the specific area of the page highlighted by the tooltip while other areas remain inactive.

This flexibility allows you to tailor the user experience to fit your specific needs, whether you want to guide users strictly through each step or give them the freedom to interact with key elements on the page as they follow along with the tooltip instructions.
