What is Lighthouse AI?
Lighthouse AI is an AI analyst built into the UserGuiding panel. Ask about your users, companies, materials, and surveys in plain language, and it answers with numbers, charts, and lists computed from your project's data. You can also tell it what to draft, from segments to Knowledge Base articles and Product Updates posts, and everything waits for your review before going live.
Lighthouse AI is currently in Beta. It is available on Basic, Professional, and Enterprise plans, and during trials.
Where to find it
Lighthouse AI has its own entry in the left-side menu. If you do not see the menu entry, your plan does not include Lighthouse AI yet, or it has not been enabled for your account. If the page says Lighthouse AI is turned off for your account, contact our team.
What you can ask
Lighthouse AI answers questions about the data you already track in UserGuiding. A few examples:
- Analytics. "How many active users do we have right now?", "What is our weekly retention rate?", "Which users haven't returned in the last 30 days?"
- Materials. "How is Onboarding Guide performing in the last 30 days?", "Where do users drop off in the Setup guide?", "Which checklist items get the least interaction?"
- Adoption and goals. "How adopted is the xyz event?", "Are users reaching the Activation goal?"
- People and accounts. "What is the xyz user segment actually doing?", "How engaged is Acme Corp, and is it declining?", "What has [email protected] done recently?"
- Voice of the user. "What did the NPS survey tell us in the last 30 days?"
The full list of supported questions lives in the Question Bank on the Lighthouse AI page. See Using the Question Bank, Material Reports and Actions.
Lighthouse is AI and can make mistakes. Treat its answers as a fast first read, and check anything you will decide on against the relevant report in the panel.
What it can draft
Lighthouse AI can also act on your behalf by creating drafts, from segments to Knowledge Base articles and Product Updates posts.
Nothing goes live without you. Every draft is saved unpublished in the editor you already know, and a Review Draft link takes you straight there.
How an answer is built
When you ask a question, Lighthouse AI reads it, runs the right analytics against your project, and writes up the result. You see each step as it happens, then a formatted answer, often with an interactive view such as a chart or a table.
Every answer carries a freshness line, so you know what you are looking at. Most questions are computed from live data, with the time they were computed. Project-wide overview questions read the same daily metrics as the Dashboard, so today's numbers appear after that day's rollup has run.
Lighthouse AI and UserGuiding MCP
Lighthouse AI and the UserGuiding MCP Server share the same set of tools, so they answer the same questions and draft the same things. The difference is where you work:
- Lighthouse AI runs inside the panel, needs no setup, keeps a history of your questions, and lets you share threads with teammates. It draws from a daily token allowance per account.
- UserGuiding MCP connects your own AI tool, such as Claude, Cursor, or Codex, to your project. It takes about two minutes to set up and does not count against the Lighthouse AI daily allowance.
If you hit the daily limit in Lighthouse AI, the same questions and actions are available anytime through MCP.
Data access and safety
- One project at a time. Lighthouse AI works on the project you have selected in the panel. It cannot read another project or another account.
- Your permissions apply. Lighthouse AI acts as you. Irreversible operations, such as deleting a user, resetting a user's history, or deleting an article or post, are reserved for account owners and admins.
- Drafts only. Anything Lighthouse AI creates or edits waits for a person to review and publish it.
- Logged. Writes made through Lighthouse AI appear in the panel Activity Log under your name.
