Overview
Cloning a Guide allows you to create an identical copy that can be modified or repurposed without starting from scratch. This feature is especially useful for maintaining consistency across multiple Guides or adapting content for different environments. Follow these steps to duplicate your UserGuiding content efficiently.
Steps to Clone a Guide
1. Locate the Guide: Start by navigating to the UserGuiding interface where your Guides are listed. Find the Guide you wish to clone from the list of existing Guides.
2. Click on the "Clone" Option: Next, click on the "Clone" button associated with the Guide you want to duplicate. This option is typically available in the Guide’s options menu or toolbar. The image below illustrates where you can find it in the interface.

3. Create the Duplicate: Upon clicking "Clone," a new Guide will be created with the same content and settings as the original. This duplicate will appear in your list of Guides, allowing you to make any necessary adjustments.
Post-Cloning Considerations
- Review Targeting Settings: After cloning a Guide, it is crucial to review and adjust the targeting settings for the duplicated Guide. Targeting settings determine which users will see the Guide based on various criteria, such as user attributes or behaviors. Ensure that these settings are configured appropriately for the context in which the cloned Guide will be used.
- Check Assigned Containers: If you plan to use the cloned Guide in a different environment or context, it’s important to verify its assigned Containers. Containers are used to group and manage Guides within specific areas or sections of your application. Make sure that the cloned Guide is assigned to the correct Containers to ensure that it is displayed where intended.
Following these steps and considerations, you can efficiently duplicate and adapt your Guides for various purposes. Cloning saves time and effort, allowing you to build on existing content while ensuring that each Guide is correctly tailored to its intended audience and environment.
